Indicators of Global Climate Change

The Indicators of Global Climate Change (IGCC) provides annual updates on the state of the climate and how it is changing due to human influence, by updating key climate indicators reported by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).

The initiative started in 2023 to address the  information gap between IPCC assessments, providing policymakers with the most up-to-date evidence on how the climate system is changing year-on-year.

This year’s update was released on 19 June 2025 and has been produced by an international team of 61 scientists, including former IPCC Lead Authors, Contributing Authors, and Chapter Scientists, from 54 institutions across 17 countries.

Looking Ahead: What the Indicators Tell Us

The data in the IGCC report shows that climate change is accelerating. Without significant reductions in greenhouse gas emissions, the planet will face more severe impacts, including rising sea levels, loss of biodiversity, and threats to food and water security.
